Your winning bid is only part of the price. Copart adds a buyer fee that depends on the bid, the title and how you pay, plus a virtual bid fee, a gate fee and, for salvage titles, an environmental fee.

Questions

How much are Copart fees on a $1,000 car?

On a salvage title paid by wire with a pre-bid, $560.00: a $375 buyer fee, $75 virtual bid fee, $95 gate fee and $15 environmental fee. Paying by card raises the buyer fee to $440.

Why is the Copart buyer fee higher when I pay by card?

Copart has two fee tables. Wire transfers, cash and cashier's checks use the lower secured table; credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay use the unsecured table, which runs roughly 10% to 40% higher.

What is the Copart virtual bid fee?

A charge for bidding online, either as a pre-bid or live in the auction. It's free under $100 and rises to $129–$160 for bids of $8,000 or more. Live bids cost $10–$20 more than pre-bids.

Does Copart charge more for salvage titles?

Yes. Non-clean titles have a $95 gate fee instead of $79, a $15 environmental fee, and a higher buyer fee at most bid levels.

What other costs should I expect?

Storage once the free days at the yard run out, a $50 late fee if you don't pay within 3 business days, transport, and your state's sales tax and registration. Copart doesn't set transport or tax, so add them in the calculator.
